Buddylink™ is an addition to the current Health Hero® technology platform that allows patients to upload objective data from devices such as weight scales, blood glucose meters, and blood pressure cuffs. Buddylink is designed to connect a variety of devices to the Health Buddy®, allowing users to upload device-reported data while answering daily surveys from their healthcare provider.

Weight scales currently compatible with Buddylink include the A&D model UC-300 and the LifeSource UC-321. Multiple blood glucose meters, beginning with the TheraSense FreeStyle® Blood Glucose Monitoring System, and blood pressure cuffs will follow pending FDA approval.

With the Health Buddy appliance, patients receive daily structured communication from their healthcare providers asking them about their symptoms, educating them on specific aspects of their condition, and encouraging positive self-management behaviors. Buddylink adds device-reported data to the self-reported data already collected by the Health Buddy to give care providers more complete information on a patient's status. Patient data is transmitted to a secure data center, from which care providers access it over the Internet using the AMAC iCare Desktop™.
